Delio Rossi has officially announced his decision to leave Lazio after four years in charge.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito grew frustrated with Rossi even though he led the Biancocelesti to a historic victory in the Coppa Italia last month.
"It's a difficult decision for me, but I have decided that I will leave Lazio," an emotional Rossi told a press conference.
"It is not an easy choice, but one well thought out because lately I have understood that I am no longer a part of this club.
"I arrived four years ago in good stead and I will leave in good stead. I wanted to communicate my decision here at Formello as it is like a second home for me."
Lotito announced on Monday morning he would begin his search for a new coach later this week, with Cagliari boss Massimiliano Allegri and ex-Palermo tactician Davide Ballardini are the favourites for the job.
