Former world's most expensive footballer to play in Vietnam

Denílson de Oliveira, once the world's most expensive footballer, has agreed to join Vietnamese club Hai Phong Cement, Thanh Nien newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The former Brazil international will is expected to play in the second half of the V-League season, which resumes June 6 after a two-week break.

Neither Thanh Nien nor other newspapers said how much Denílson will be paid.

Denílson was capped 68 times and became the world's most expensive player when he joined Spanish side Real Betis from São Paulo in 1998 for €32 million.

The 33-year-old has said that he knew nothing about Vietnamese football before his arrival. A friend of his had introduced him to Hai Phong management and he accepted their offer to come to play in the Asian country.
