Javier Saviola keen on Benfica loan move

Friday, June 26, 2009

Javier Saviola's agent Diego Queiruga has revealed that Benfica are close to striking a loan deal for the Real Madrid forward.

The 27-year-old is one of many players who do not fit into Florentino Pérez's revolutionary plans at the Spanish giants.

Saviola was set to join Benfica last summer but his wage demands forced the Portuguese giants not to follow up their interest.

"Yes, yes, Benfica are negotiating with us and Real Madrid," Queiruga told Record.

"We are addressing the matter together and thinking about what is best for the player and for both clubs.

"Javier is not part of Real's plans and Benfica are a club that appeal to him. We are negotiating a loan deal that can please all.

"Javier's intention is to feel useful in football again and to be able to show all his qualities, which delighted Europe when he was at River Plate.

"Benfica could be the ideal club for his rebirth."
