OFFICIAL: Carlos Tévez seals Man City move

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Carlos Tévez has completed his move to Manchester City on a five-year deal after passing his medical examination today.

The Premier League have already accepted the paperwork on the deal, which will see City assume total registration rights on the 25-year-old, thus avoiding the messy saga West Ham became embroiled in.

The Eastlands club will have to pay £25.5 million to sign Tévez from MSI, the group that owned the Argentine's economic rights.

"It is terrific news," City boss Mark Hughes told www.mcfc.co.uk. "Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward.

"He is not only outstanding technically, but he is a reliable goalscorer and someone who will contribute fully to the team ethic. He gives us another exciting, attacking dimension. I cannot wait to welcome him to City.

"This is yet another deal that shows the commitment of the owner Sheikh Mansour to make this club the very best it can possibly be.

"I am sure our fans will give Carlos an exceptionally warm welcome."

Tévez has been expected to join City ever since he rejected a five-year deal to stay with Manchester United last month.

He will join Roque Santa Cruz, Gareth Barry and Stuart Taylor as City's newest recruits this summer.
