Friendly: Macedonia 2-3 Spain

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Spain avoided a big upset after battling back from two-goals down before claiming a 3-2 win at FYR Macedonia.

Goran Pandev netted twice to give the home side a 2-0 halftime lead and leave the European champions in danger of a second defeat in three games.

But Fernando Torres restored some pride shortly into the second half and his goal proved to be the catalyst for a quick-fire comeback.

Defender Gerard Piqué then drilled the equalizer after substitute Cesc Fàbregas' shot rebounded off the post, before Albert Riera rifled the visitors into the lead a minute later.
