Arsène Wenger: No go for Chamakh

Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger believes long-time Gunners target Marouane Chamakh is not going anywhere in January.

The Bordeaux striker has long been linked with a move away from the Stade Chaban-Delmas and made no secret in the summer of his desire to play in the Premier League.

With Robin van Persie out for most of the rest of the season, Wenger desperately needs a new striker and speculation is rife that the Frenchman is set to make a renewed effort to sign Chamakh when the window opens again.

However, Wenger admits that the Moroccan international is highly unlikely to leave Bordeaux in the January transfer window.

He said: "Chamakh is in the Champions League with Bordeaux and at the top of their league, so he will not move now.

"He has four months (of his deal) to go with Bordeaux and they have no interest in selling him."

The 25-year-old's contract with the French champion expires at the end of the season, allowing him to leave on a free transfer.
