Table of Contents
A first-minute header from Daniele De Rossi was enough to give 10-man AS Roma a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chievo Verona.
De Rossi headed in from a corner to give the hosts the lead at the Stadio Olimpico, but they had goalkeeper Doni sent off in the 11th minute after he handled the ball outside the area to stop striker Elvis Abbruscato from scoring.
Despite playing a man down, Roma should have extended their lead in the 56th minute Davide Mandelli pulled down Luca Toni in the area, but Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino saved David Pizarro's spot kick.
