West Ham moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 victory over Birmingham City, whose former owners David Sullivan and David Gold are now in charge at Upton Park.

The Hammers went in front in first-half injury time when Alessandro Diamanti smashed home a free-kick over the wall and into the top corner, giving Birmingham keeper Joe Hart no chance.

Carlton Cole then made sure of the victory when nodding home from point-blank range after good work down the right from Julien Faubert.
