Lionel Messi struck a brilliant second half hat-trick to give Barcelona a 3-0 victory over 10-man Valencia at the Camp Nou.
Barça went ahead after 56 minutes as Messi waltzed past three Valencia players before firing in a left-footed shot past César Sánchez.
Things went from bad to worse for Valencia when Hedwiges Maduro was sent off 20 minutes from the end for his second yellow card after a challenge on Messi.
Messi struck again in the 81st minute when he controlled a long pass on the right, cut inside and shot past César.
And a minute later, the diminutive Argentinian completed his treble as he ran on to Thierry Henry's pass to tap the ball in.
