Gonzalo Higuaín bagged a hat-trick to help Real Madrid to a 4-1 victory over relegation-threatened Real Valladolid at the José Zorilla Stadium.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring after 28 minutes as his deflected free-kick nestled in the back of the net, before Higuaín volleyed in a second on the stroke of half-time.
The Argentinian made it three seven minutes after the break, but Valladolid pulled a goal back in the 58th minute when Iker Casillas' clearance bounced off the legs of defender Raúl Albiol and back into the net.
Higuaín, though, ended any hopes of a comeback as he tapped in from close range after Valladolid keeper Justo Villar failed to hold onto a Ronaldo shot.
