Liverpool confirmed on Friday that Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina has put pen to paper on a new six-year deal.

The 27-year-old has been in discussions with the club for a number of months and recently announced that he expected to sign the new contract.

Reina has proved himself to be one of the best and most reliable shot-stoppers in the Premier League and is settled on Merseyside.

He told Liverpool's website: "I have said many times that this is the club for me and I have no doubts about that. That's why I signed for six more years.

"I believe in this club and I am confident that we can achieve more great success - I wouldn't have signed otherwise.

"We have this wonderful history and we want to add it in the years to come."

The Spaniard has followed the likes of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Daniel Agger and Dirk Kuyt in committing his long-term future to the Reds.
