The Hollywood hunk became close friends with the soccer star when Beckham and his wife Victoria moved to Los Angeles in 2007.
The pair have often spoken of their admiration for each other and have been thinking of ways they could work together.
And Cruise had recently praised Beckham and admitted he's been "encouraging him to become an actor" because of his Hollywood looks.
Then a report came up subsequently citing that Top Gun actor is planning to Beckham for a cameo in Mission: Impossible 4.
However, Cruise's spokesperson has rubbished the speculation, insisting that the actor's comments have been "blown out of proportion".
The spokesperson told Gossip Cop: "This is blown out of proportion.
"He (Cruise) was asked a simple question on (a press) tour about if he thinks David would be a good actor and he said yes. Then it ran into the ether in a crazy way that doesn't (represent) what he said."
