Chelsea maintained their perfect start to the season and piled more woe on rock-bottom West Ham as they celebrated a 3-1 victory at Upton Park.

The Blues went ahead after just two minutes when Michael Essien nodded a Didier Drogba corner in front of the goal before Salomon Kalou took advantage of a sloppy Robert Green error in the 18th minute to make it 2-0.

Essien struck again in the 83rd minute with a superb header past Green but moments later Chelsea conceded their first goal of the season when Scott Parker calmly lobbed Petr ÄŒech from 20 yards.
