Premier League: Arsenal 2-1 Birmingham

Sunday, October 17, 2010

Marouane Chamakh inspired 10-man Arsenal to come back from a goal down to beat Birmingham City 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Birmingham snatched the lead against the run of play just after the half-hour mark through Nikola Žigić's powerful header from Keith Fahey's insightful cross.

But back came the Gunners, who equalised four minutes from time through Samir Nasri's penalty before Chamakh sealed victory with the winner two minutes after the restart.

The victory was marred in injury time however, as Jack Wilshere's reckless challenge on Žigić left referee Martin Atkinson no option but to give the midfielder his marching orders.
