Marouane Chamakh still adapting to Premier League football

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Arsenal hitman Marouane Chamakh has spoken about the initial difficulty of adapting to the pace and ferocity of Premier League football.

The Moroccan joined the Gunners on a free transfer from Bordeaux during the summer, having spent his entire career with the French club.

The 26-year-old has netted six times this term but admitted he found the tempo of his first game hard to register.

Chamakh said in Sky Sports: "I almost had a seizure when I first played for Arsenal.

"I told myself that I would never be able to stand up to playing an entire match.

"At Arsenal we go on the attack all the time, and I was completely unaware when I first joined them.

"At times I wanted our keeper to slow down play a little by keeping hold of the ball. But no, he'd launch it upfield straight away."
