Shay Given hints at January switch

Out of favour Manchester City keeper Shay Given has reiterated his desire to find regular football elsewhere in the January transfer window.

The 34-year-old has not enjoyed much playing time ever since Joe Hart came back from his loan spell with Birmingham City last summer.

That has left the Republic of Ireland international frustrated on the sidelines, with just two outings managed so far this season.

And Given has made it plain he is fed up with being a substitute and has decided that moving on would be the right option for him.

He told a press conference: "My own personal situation isn't ideal as everyone knows and I have spoken about it in the past, so we will see what happens over the next couple of months in that respect.

"I want to be playing football and I have always said that, so hopefully something will happen in the New Year.

"It's frustrating and I have already said I'm not coping very well, to be honest.

"But I can't change the situation at the moment and I have got to just keep my head down and see what happens over the next couple of months, I suppose."
