Atlético Madrid close in on Diego signing

VfL Wolfsburg playmaker Diego is relishing the prospect of joining Atlético Madrid, according to the player's father and agent.
The Brazilian is currently on the market after falling out with the club's management after just one year at the Volkswagen Arena.
A transfer in the region of €10 million is reportedly in the pipeline as Atlético are keen to bolster their attacking options after losing Sergio Agüero to Manchester City.
"The only thing left is for Wolfsburg and Atlético to reach an agreement," Djair Ribas da Cunha told AS. "He really wants to sign for the Madrid club.
"Atlético will benefit from him a lot. He has quality and thinks he will fit in well to the system under (Atlético coach Gregorio) Manzano.
"We have time until the end of August. We would like it (the transfer) to be soon although that doesn't depend on us."
