Bayern Munich's last-gasp 2-1 win at Werder Bremen earlier in the day meant Dortmund required three points to make sure of claiming a second straight Bundesliga title.

And Jürgen Klopp's side duly delivered thanks to goals from Ivan Perišić and Shinji Kagawa.

"I haven't got words to describe what this team has achieved," said a beer-soaked Klopp after the match.

"It's just amazing. If ever there's a team that deserves to be champions, then it's us.

"This match reflected the entire season. I think there has seldom been a more deserving champion than Borussia Dortmund this season."

It was the eighth time Dortmund have been German champions, five of them in the last 20 years.

"It's the happiest I've ever felt," Kagawa said. "Nothing beats this."

Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller added: "Again we played a grandiose season."

Dortmund will meet Bayern in the DFB Pokal final on May 12 which would mark the club's first ever cup double if they are to win it.
