Barcelona doctor Ricard Pruna believes the club's new signing Neymar may need to bulk up in order to reach his peak physical condition.

The Brazilian forward, who is currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup, passed his medical earlier this month to complete his €57 million transfer from Santos.

However, concerns remain that the 21-year-old may be too lightweight for the transition to European football.

"We gave him a very speedy checkup and his weight was one of the pieces of information," Dr. Pruna told a press conference.

"My first impression about Neymar is that he weighs 64.5 kg and will need to put on a bit of weight, but I cannot say exactly how much.

"Throughout the season we are going to get to know the player and we will be constantly taking data. That way we can determine his ideal weight."

Neymar is not the first Barcelona player to be deemed too light as the Catalans famously paid for Lionel Messi to have treatment to speed up his growth when he was a delicate teenager.
