World chess champion Magnus Carlsen honoured by Real Madrid on his birthday

New world chess champion Magnus Carlsen marked his 23rd birthday by taking the honorary kick-off in the La Liga match between Real Madrid and Real Valladolid on Saturday.
Carlsen, who is known Whites fan, received an ovation from the Bernabéu after winning the title by beating Viswanathan Anand, also a Madrid supporter, in Chennai, India.
Prior to the match, Madrid President Florentino Pérez gave him a shirt with his name on and an inscribed watch for his 23rd birthday, which he is celebrating on the day.
According to his agent, Carlsen, who is the second youngest champion in the chess history after Garry Kasparov, is not at all pleased to be nicknamed "The Messi of the Chessboard", as he would much prefer to be compared to Madrid players.
