Realising they needed to put in a heroic performance to get the necessary victory, Argentine fourth division club Sacachispas decided to assemble their very own "Justice League" ahead of a crunch Copa Argentina clash with top-tier outfit Arsenal de Sarandí.

Indeed, in bizarre scenes, the team from Buenos Aires' Villa Soldati neighbourhood came out for kick-off while all wearing a variety of superhero masks.

Spiderman, Batman, Superman and Iron Man were just a few of the masked vigilantes present as the minnows lined up for their cup clash at the Estadio Ciudad de Caseros on Wednesday.

Amazingly enough, the team in fancy dress went on to pull off the shock result of the round.

A goal from Iron Man (or possibly Batman) ensued the game finished 1-1 after 120 minutes, only for the lower league superheroes to go on and beat Arsenal 6-5 in the ensuing penalty shoot-out.
