Torino and Inter Milan will lock horns in their second meeting in the 2024/25 Serie A campaign on match day 36. As of the time of writing, Torino have garnered 43 points and they sit in 10th position from 34 games played. Inter Milan have 71 points from the same number of games.

Torino have always been a difficult team to beat in Serie A, and they have done so to a large extent this season. The Turin side always find themselves in mid-table, and it seems that is where they will finish once again this term.

In their season opener against Milan at San Siro, Granata let a two-goal lead slip after an own-goal from Malick Thiaw, and Duvan Zapata's goal had put them ahead, but a late six-minute rally from the home side saw them deny Torino a point. Alvaro Morata and Noah Okafor scored for the home side.

Torino went ahead to win the next two games against Atalanta and Venezia, plus a draw against Lecce, and a win against Torino meant they were unbeaten in their first five Serie A games of the season.

That unbeaten period was then followed by a four-game losing streak to Empoli, Lazio, Inter, and Cagliari. A hard-fought 1-0 win over Como got them back to winning ways, but they went on to lose the next three games.

They eventually ended the year with a 2-0 home loss to Bologna. Granata went ahead to start 2025 with five draws from their opening six games before a run of three wins in their next four games. Most recently, Torino have won just once in their past three games in the Serie A.

They have already secured their place in the top flight for another season, so this is a game with little importance to them.

For Inter Milan, this is an important game. Simone Inzaghi and his boys would feel that they should have rounded up the Scudetto by now, but they have lost concentration in recent weeks, and that has handed the advantage to Napoli who have jumped to the top and hold a three-point lead.

Meanwhile, Nerazzurri started their Scudetto defense on a bad note, as they were forced to a 2-2 draw at Genoa. After playing 1-1 at halftime, Inter Milan got the lead in the 86th minute, courtesy of Marcus Thuram. But they capitulated and lost the game, courtesy of a 95th-minute strike from Junior Messias.

Nonetheless, they recovered from that defeat and claimed two wins on the bounce against Lecce and Atalanta. After that, they went to Brianteo to play a 1-1 draw against Monza. After that game, they lost to AC Milan in the Milan derby.

However, they returned to winning ways in their next game, defeating Udinese 3-1. Since then, they have gone on an unbeaten streak. Inter Milan defeated Torino 3-2. Then, they went to Rome to defeat Roma 1-0. They stumbled against Juventus in their next game, where they settled for a 4-4 draw. Once again, they capitulated, surrendering a 4-2 lead.

The reigning Serie A kings have many quality players, and they picked up again in the game that followed with a handsome 3-0 win over Venezia. They then defeated Venezia 1-0 after that, before playing out a 1-1 draw against Napoli just before the international break. Inter then went on a winning run of eight games in their next nine to gain control of the situation.

In January, they lost to Milan in the Super Cup final. Back in Serie A, they did not lose until the trip to Florence, where they faced Fiorentina and lost 3-0. Not long after, Juventus also beat them in Turin in mid- February.

Since then, they remained unbeaten in all competitions until the defeat to Bologna in April. That defeat started a run of poor form that has seen them lose to Milan in the Coppa Italia semis and lose their lead at the top of Serie A.

Inter, who entered the month of April on the verge of a treble, are currently scrambling for just one title - the UEFA Champions League, where they have reached the semifinals (v. Barcelona).

Inter are winless in their past four games in all competitions, and will need Napoli to slip up, while they win all their games to win the Scudetto again.

Torino and Inter have met 31 times since 2007. Torino have won 4 times, Inter have won 19 times, and the remaining 8 meetings have ended in stalemates.

Team news

Line-ups

Torino's season is most definitely over, and the same team from the recent defeat to Napoli should start in this game. Meanwhile, they have several players out injured, including Duvan Zapata and Borna Sosa.

Torino XI: Milinkovic-Savic; Coco, Marzipan, Masina; Pedersen, Linetty, Tameze, Casadei, Biraghi; Elmas; Adams

Meanwhile, coach Inzaghi does not have any major injury concerns going into this game. Including Marcus Thuram who has been battling a muscle injury of late, Inter should have everyone available for this crucial trip to Turin.

Inter Milan XI: Yan Sommer; Benjamin Pavard, Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni; Denzel Dumfries, Nicole Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Federico Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram

Prediction

This is a big game for Torino, and luckily for them, they are not in the relegation fight. Meanwhile, fans should still get their Torino tickets early enough because the defending champions are coming to town.

On the other hand, Inter have won the previous five meetings between the two clubs. In addition, the Milan club has won four of the past five games played in Turin. Even in the head-to-head, they are clearly the dominant team. However, Inter's form is a bit poor now, and Torino might heap more misery on them if they fail to raise their game.
