Mount, who has been battling injuries since his move from Chelsea in 2023, has barely made an impact in a shirt for the Red Devils, and he knows he has to get going unfailingly in the 2025/26 campaign.
The 25-year-old spoke on Manchester United's disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League, stating the team is keen to put that behind them as they look to challenge for honours in the new campaign.
"We want to win trophies," Mount said, via PA Media. "You come into every season wanting to do that. Now, with the new manager coming in, he's really stamped down his philosophy and how he wants us to play. We've been learning that, day by day, and it's been really exciting."
"It's a fresh season now. It's a reset," Mount added. "We want to start strong, start well. We want to prove people wrong."
It will be Amorim's first full season in charge, and there is a general belief that his team will perform better than they did last season.
Meanwhile, despite the absence of European competition at Old Trafford, fans have been securing their Manchester United tickets ahead of the new season.
Amorim: Places Still Up For Grabs
Ruben Amorim says he has not decided yet on his line-up for the Premier League opener against Arsenal next month.
The Red Devils showed signs of improvement in their 2-1 win over West Ham United at the MetLife Stadium over the weekend, with skipper Bruno Fernandes scoring both goals.
"All the guys. I don't want to talk specifically. Rasmus [Hojlund] did well," Amorim answered the question on players who impressed in the win. "I really liked Rasmus's game, the runs and the way he fought during the game, one against one, when we kicked the ball. He connected with the team-mates so he did a great job, Matheus Cunha is that kind of player that can help us, he can help us a lot because he can run with the ball and that is something that can change the game. We missed that last year. In the first half, Kobbie [Mainoo] and Manu [Ugarte] were really good. I'm not going to talk about the second team because it's really hard for 11 [10] players to go to the pitch, you know, a lot of young kids. But I really like the team. Of course, you have to look at the game and you have to improve things."
On the Premier League season opener against Arsenal, the coach responded, "It's a strong team and we need to prepare all the players, and we don't have a lot of weeks or a lot of games to prepare all the team. That can change, you saw in the second half, there are players who can play in the first game. It's not a decision I made already."
It is the second pre-season match for Manchester United following the goalless draw with Leeds United earlier in the month.
Manchester United's Activity in the Summer Transfer Window So Far
Manchester United's business have been a bit slow this summer, but they have managed to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves after they activated his £62.5m release clause in his Wolves contract.
Matheus Cunha, speaking at his unveiling, said: "It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player. Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team, and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt. I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality.
"I can't wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my team-mates and prepare for the season ahead. All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top."
Apart from Cunha, United eventually beat Tottenham to the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
Bryan Mbeumo said after his move was confirmed: "As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up.
"My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.
"Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies."
Mbeumo, 25, scored 20 Premier League goals in the 2024/25 season, the fourth highest in the league, and contributed a further eight assists.
'Coming to Barça is All That I Dreamt'
One of the key players who left Manchester United this summer was Marcus Rashford. The forward secured a season-long loan move to Barcelona with an option to buy.
"Barça is a place where dreams come true,” Rashford said after his move was confirmed. Here good players can enjoy the game and I really love football."
"I am looking forward to helping and I want to win trophies. One of the reasons I came is that motivation and the ambition to be a better player."
"The work he did last season was sensational. He has been really important in the whole process. I am really grateful for the welcome that the fans have given me, and I can't wait to make my debut in the jersey," the 27-year-old concluded.
Other players who left Manchester United include Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelof, whose contracts expired at the end of last season. On the other hand, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia are all set to leave.
