The scale of the celebrations became clear when Boston Beer Company revealed that its flagship Sam Adams Boston Taproom completely exhausted its supply of Samuel Adams Boston Lager over the weekend.
Scotland fans drink Boston dry
According to the brewer, members of Scotland's famous supporters group, the Tartan Army, consumed four times the amount of Boston Lager normally sold during a busy four-day holiday period such as Independence Day.The extraordinary demand forced the company to arrange an emergency beer delivery on Saturday morning, with additional shipments scheduled throughout the week to prevent further shortages.
Whilst Boston Lager proved the drink of choice for many visiting supporters, it was far from the only casualty of the beer-fuelled celebrations.
At the White Bull Tavern, stocks disappeared at an alarming rate as Scotland fans packed the venue following their team's opening World Cup victory.
Paul Morris of the White Bull Tavern admitted the demand caught staff by surprise.

Record-breaking weekend for Boston businesses
The impact of Scotland's supporters extended well beyond individual pubs.Hennessy's Bar in downtown Boston told local media that sales during the World Cup weekend exceeded even its busiest St Patrick's Day celebrations.

We've been here for over 30 years, and we've never seen anything like it.Elsewhere, Federal Wine & Spirits reportedly sold out of popular beer brands including Budweiser and Corona, whilst one of the shop's refrigerator doors broke after being opened repeatedly throughout the weekend rush.
