French Football Federation announces legal action
The French Football Federation (FFF) quickly backed its captain, describing Amarilla's comments as "utterly abhorrent and unacceptable."The governing body confirmed it intends to refer the matter to French prosecutors with the aim of pursuing criminal proceedings.
According to the FFF, racist remarks of this nature "must be prosecuted here as elsewhere."
Amarilla refuses to back down
Rather than retracting her position, Amarilla responded by claiming she could also pursue legal action against Mbappé.In an open letter shared on social media, the Paraguayan senator admitted her original posts had been written "in the heat of the moment" and said she later regretted responding with insults.
