"Arsenal kids have mindset of Manchester United’s class of ’92" – Mark Hughes

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes hinted Arsenal’s youngsters to follow in the phenomenal footsteps of Manchester United’s class of '92. He said all of the Gunners kids have the same mentality as those United players and they are very competitive.

United's youth team of 1991-92 was a phenomenon. Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Gary and Phil Neville – group of players had become known as 'Fergie's Fledglings' – emerged from that team to form the bedrock of United’s success over decades, not least during the historic treble season of 1998-99.

As a former United striker, Hughes witnessed their development directly and the Welshman believes that greatness beckons for Arsène Wenger’s wonderboys.

This season, Wenger has confirmed he will resist the urge to spend millions in favour of blooding more youngsters. The likes of Mark Randall, Jay Simpson and Henri Lansbury are all tipped to break through this season.

Wenger's summer signings so far have been another promising lads with 20-year-old Samir Nasri and 17-year-old Aaron Ramsey. The emergence of 16-year-old Jack Wilshere in pre-season adds further evidence to the claim that the Frenchman has one of the best young squads in the world.
