Maradona ready for the job

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona is set to be named as the new of the national side.

After coming out of a meeting with the head of Argentine Football Association (AFA), Julio Grondona, Maradona told reporters: "The offer has attracted me a lot.

"As soon as it is confirmed, I will start working, but I can say I am very proud.

"We have to keep talking. There are some things to resolve. This is just beginning."

Maradona and his '86 World Cup-winning coach Carlos Bilardo were approached by Grondona to lead the national team.

Grondona has led the search for a coach following Alfio Basile’s recent resignation.

However, AFA and Grondona were yet to make official statements following the meeting.
