Olić will join Bayern next summer

Monday, January 5, 2009

Bayern Munich have beaten the likes of Juventus and Valencia to snap up Croatia forward Ivica Olić.

Olić, who is out of contract in June with Hamburg, had been locked in talks about his future over the past few weeks and he has now finally opted for Bayern.

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeneß confirmed to the club's official website, www.fcbayern.de, on Saturday that the 29-year-old will move to the Allianz Arena on a three-year deal starting July 1.

"We have agreed (on the transfer)," Hoeneß said. "All that is missing is the signatures on the contract."

Olić, who looks set to replace wantaway Lukas Podolski in the Bavarians' squad, hopes to leave Hamburg on a high.

"I will give everything to ensure that I leave Hamburg with a title," he promised.
