Stoke frustrated Premier League leaders Liverpool for the second time this season after a 0-0 draw at the Britannia Stadium.

The Reds were lucky, in fact, not to be contemplating defeat after the home side carved out the best chances of the match.

The Potters' long throw specialist Rory Delap had the league leaders rattled early on when the Irishman smashed a shot against the underside of the bar after Liverpool defense failed to clear a high ball from Amdy Faye.

Stoke found the net in the 31st minute when Ryan Shawcross headed home a cross from new signing Matt Etherington only to see his effort was rightly ruled out for offside.

Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina put his team straight into trouble after the restart as his careless clearance fell for Dave Kitson who skipped round the keeper only to hit the side-netting.

The visitors rattled the goal frame twice in the closing stages as Steven Gerrard's free-kick came back off the bar before he bundled another effort off the left upright.

Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner came off the bench to fire a late winner as Arsenal picked all three points at the Emirates.

Bendtner popped up in the dying stages to grab the winner when the Gunners looked set for yet another setback in their frustrating season.

Arsène Wenger's men dominated from the outset but were constantly frustrated by the visitors, who put 10 men behind the ball.

A golden chance fell to Emmanuel Adebayor as he was picked out in the right side of the penalty area by a superb pass from Samir Nasri, but his shot was blocked by Andy O'Brien after taking too long to pull the trigger.

It seemed as though it was just not Arsenal's day when Robin van Persie weaved his way into the area and fired the ball past Jussi Jääskeläinen but saw his effort bounced off the post.

However, just when time looked to be running out, Bendtner arrived at the far post to stab in a cross from van Persie to the relief of the home fans.
