Ranieri keeping tabs on Diego

Friday, January 23, 2009

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri has revealed his interest on the possibility of picking up Werder Bremen star Diego.

The Bianconeri have not been active on the transfer market yet, but they are believed to be looking for an ideal replacement for Pavel Nedvěd at the end of the season as the 36-year-old midfielder is thought to be retiring.

Diego has long been linked with a move to the Italian giants, while he has also been on Manchester City's radar.

And now Ranieri has finally confirmed Juventus' penchant for the 23-year-old Brazilian after months of speculation.

"Diego? I will not say yes or no," the tactician told Juventus Channel.

"Diego is very strong, he is an excellent player and we are keeping an eye on him. But we have to evaluate every element of this situation.

"Of course I like him, but we also have to think about the balance of the squad.

"Bringing in a new player and getting him used to the set up will not be easy and it cannot be rushed."
