Arrigo Sacchi believes Robinho has made a mistake in deciding to leave Real Madrid for Manchester City.
The former AC Milan and Italy coach was technical director at Los Blancos and persuaded the Brazilian star to leave Santos for Real in 2005.
Robinho, already disillusioned by City's poor results, is facing disciplinary action after he left the club's training camp in Tenerife to return to Brazil without permission. He is understood to have told City players that he is seriously considering his future at the club.
And now Sacchi believes Robinho is a shadow of his former self and has sold his football soul for money.
Sacchi told Radio Onda Cero: "Robinho clearly made a mistake, no one can choose to leave Real Madrid in order to go to a club like Manchester City!
"A top player aged only 24 can never leave Real Madrid like he did.
"People always say that footballers are money-grabbers but Kaká has shown that's not always the case.
"He turned down a pile of money and preferred the quality of his football life."
