Serie A leaders Inter Milan snapped their eight-match winning streak as they were held to a shock home draw by Cagliari in their first match of 2009.

Portuguese veteran Luís Figo lined up behind Julio Cruz and Zlatan Ibrahimović as Inter's attack created numerous chances, but failed to find the back of the net.

Cagliari, who lost six of their eight matches on their travels prior to the clash at the San Siro, went ahead in the 65th minute when Robert Acquafresca, who is on loan from Inter, was left wide open to score his seventh goal of the season after defender Walter Samuel slipped inside the area.

Inter boss José Mourinho then sent on two more forwards, Amantino Mancini and Hernán Crespo, in a bid to get his side back into the match, but they should have been dead and buried moments later.

Jeda battled past two opponents before setting up Biondini, who, with time and space inside the area, shot wide of the left post.

And that miss proved costly when Ibrahimović equalised in the 77th minute, turning home Crespo's cross at the far post.

Acquafresca then missed an empty net in the 83rd minute before Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari hit the outside of the post three minutes later.

Inter also had a goal disallowed in stoppage time when Mancini tapped home Figo's cross in an offside position as the Nerazzurri started the year with a stutter.

In Saturday's other match, Genoa cruised to a 3-0 victory over struggling Torino thanks to headed goals from Giuseppe Biava, Basko Janković and Thiago Motta.
