Pavlyuchenko labels Berbatov 'arrogant snob'

Saturday, February 28, 2009

In an astonishing attack ahead of Sunday's Carling Cup, Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has stuck the knife into his Manchester United counterpart Dimitar Berbatov by branding the Bulgarian as an "arrogant snob".

The Russian international has already criticised the lack of good Russian cuisine in England, as well as having a pop at the looks of the nation's multi-ethnic women.

And the 27-year-old's latest burst includes a criticism of Spurs' former striker Berbatov.

Speaking to Moscow newspaper Gazeta, Pavlyuchenko sniped: "I heard tales Berbatov was an arrogant snob who, after training, would just throw his dirty boots to the man who takes care of our footwear saying, ‘Clean them for me!’

"No one likes such people. Still, he is now playing for Manchester United."

The former Spartak Moscow hitman then stuck the knife in further by comparing Berbatov with Robbie Keane, who left Spurs for Liverpool - but then made a popular return to the club.

He added: "Robbie Keane returned to Spurs as if he never left the club.

"It’s evident that he’s a man of authority inside the team which is good for us.

"He was always liked as far as I can judge but if Berbatov returned, it would be taken quite differently."
