Zlatan Ibrahimović and Kaká the world's best paid footballers

At a time when the crisis took all the front pages of international newspapers, Portuguese magazine Futebol Finance published a list of the world's best paid players this season.

But despite the Premier League's status as the world's richest league, none of its stars are feature in the top three.

Two Serie A superstars Zlatan Ibrahimović and Kaká are top of the list, earning €9 million annually in salary alone.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is third place, taking in over €8 million a year.

Meanwhile, John Terry and Frank Lampard are the highest paid Premier League representatives, each thought to be earning more than €7 million per annum.
