Barcelona can now clinch their 19th La Liga title on Sunday after nearest rivals Real Madrid slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Valencia.

It took the hosts just four minutes to fire out the first warning shot when Rubén Baraja's header was superbly denied by Iker Casillas.

But Casillas was helpless to prevent Juan Mata, a former Real youth team player, finding the back of the net on 29 minutes after he eased past Fabio Cannavaro.

Worse came for the visitors three minutes later when David Silva's speculative effort squirmed past Casillas at his near post.

Baraja then spurned a great chance to make it three when he wildly blazed over from close range following a clever one-two with David Villa in the 55th minute.

And Los Che ensured there would be no comeback from Real when Baraja sent a fantastic first-time volley flying past the helpless Casillas on 68 minutes.
