Thierry Henry is doing everything in his power to play his part in the Champions League final with Manchester United in Rome.

The Barcelona star is a doubt for the glamorous final due to a strained right knee, but he has refused to give up on the possibility to appear for the Catalan giants on May 27.

Henry's injury forced him to miss the second leg of Barcelona's semi-final success against Chelsea, but the 31-year-old insists he is very near to regaining full fitness.

"Do not discard me for Rome," he told Sport. "I am working to my maximum to give myself a chance to play.

"Day by day I am getting better. I always am optimistic and for me to play in Rome would be a dream after defeat in the final in Paris by Barça in my time with Arsenal."

Henry was in the Arsenal side that lost to his current club Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League final in Paris.
