After months of negotiations, Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés has finally signed a contract renewal that will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2014.
According to Marca, the club’s technical director, Txiki Begiristain, held talks with the player’s father as well as his agent, Gines Carvajal, late Thursday evening and all parties have come to an agreement.
Speculation had circulated in recent weeks that 27-year-old could be on the move during the summer transfer window as the Catalans refused to meet his wage demands.
However, a compromise has now been reached, with reports suggesting Valdés has agreed to a salary of around €7 million per season.
Barcelona are expected to make an official announcement about the extension on Friday.
