Fergie: Ron may come back

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Sir Alex Ferguson has not written off the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo wearing Manchester United colours again one day in the future.

Ronaldo, signed for a world record £80million, made his Real Madrid debut in last night's 1-0 win over Shamrock Rovers.

And while Ferguson does feel the winger will prosper at the Spanish capital, he cannot entirely discount the possibility of Ronaldo eventually coming back to Old Trafford, where he spent six years developing into the world's best player.

He told The Daily Telegraph: "He may come back, you never know. He loved United, he loved the club.

"If you look back at the six years he had with us, he never missed training. That is one of the things he has above all these other players.

"His best is yet to come, he is only 24. I will be very proud as we had a part to play in it.

"He came to the right club at the right part of his career. He could have gone to Real Madrid or Barcelona and a lot of other clubs, but he came to the right one and he appreciates that."
