David Villa happy to stay at Valencia

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

David Villa is pleased to remain at Valencia despite the speculation that has surrounded his future.

The Spain international has long been linked with big-money moves to a number of top European clubs, with speculation rife earlier this summer that he would be sold to ease the club's financial worries.

But Los Che have refused to sell and Villa, who remained tight-lipped amidst the rumours, has revealed he never considered playing for another club against Valencia's wishes.

"I am happy and eager. I have been sincere in everything and, from now on, it's over," he told the Spanish media.

"Last summer was similar to this one, I spent four months with the same story, but from now on this matter is over.

"I could not spend all summer refuting things, so I wanted to be quiet.

"I depended on the decision of the club, they have decided for me to stay and I am glad.

"I was told I should leave Valencia for the good of the club, soon after that everything changed and from that moment on I never saw myself leaving."
