Ibra to complete Barcelona switch on Monday

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain hopes to complete the transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimović from Inter Milan to the Spanish and European champions as early as Monday.

The two clubs have worked out a swap deal involving Ibrahimović and Samuel Eto’o, with Aliaksandr Hleb also reportedly being offered to the Italian club on top of a cash payment of €45 million.

Eto'o successfully concluded negotiations with Inter yesterday and now Ibrahimović has flown in to sign.

The Swedish striker will arrive at Barcelona on Sunday to discuss terms, before being put through rigorous physical examinations 24 hours later.

"We have a principal agreement with the player and with Inter and the relevant documentation is now being prepared," Begiristain told Barça TV.

"The clubs are trying to finalise the deal as quickly as possible. It could be done by Monday."

However, one potential problem could be Hleb's desire to reluctance to move to the San Siro. The former Arsenal midfielder insisted on Friday he was staying at Barcelona.
