Roberto Mancini linked with Real Madrid

Saturday, October 31, 2009

Roberto Mancini has been mooted as a replacement for Manuel Pellegrini at Real Madrid, where the Chilean is coming under increasing pressure to deliver results.

Pellegrini is already feeling the pressure at Real despite only taking charge in the summer, with results over the past week placing doubts over the his future.

The Spanish giants were recently humbled by third tier village side Alcorcón in the Copa del Rey, while they have won only once in the last five games.

Real are reportedly set to fire Pellegrini and Mancini has been heavily linked with the post.

The speculation hit fever-pitch last night when Mancini finally terminated his contract with Inter Milan, a year and a half after he was sacked.

The coach was still receiving wages from the club and had another two years to run on the deal, but suddenly reached an agreement to break away.

"We will see what will happen in the next few weeks," Mancini told Sky Italia.

"Leagues have only been started for a short time, so we will see what happens over the next months.

"I have said it once before, at times you never think that you'll train a certain team and then you end up training that very team.

"I think that, for me, an experience abroad could be really useful, considering that I think it's the right moment. But we'll see."
