Funniest penalty shoot-out ever?

Saturday, November 14, 2009

From a US College match between Stony Brook and Hartford, comes one of the funniest penalty shoot-outs ever captured on film.

Penalty shoot-outs may not be the best way to decide a tournament game, partly because after 90 minutes it seems kinda odd that the outcome would come down to 10 uncontested shots from 12 yards out. But also because the whole experience can be anticlimactic.

But that wasn't the case at LaValle Stadium last Thursday thanks to the goalies of both sides who put on an amazing spectacle as they tried to put off their opponents in the strangest of ways.

Hartford goalkeeper Nenad Cudic attempted to throw off his opponents by showing off a series of cartwheels across the mouth of his goal as the respective penalty-takers prepared to have their shots.

In response, Stony Brook’s goalie Anthony Rogic performed a series of jumps, knee-crouches and other odd stretches and moves as he retaliated with his own off-putting routine.

Rogic’s tactics for Stony Brook eventually won out as his team won 3-2.
