Premier League: Birmingham 2-1 Blackburn

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

In-form Birmingham City climbed to fifth in the Premier League after a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at St Andrews.

The home side looked better throughout and they took the lead after just 12 minutes when Cameron Jerome knocked past Paul Robinson from close range after collecting the ball from a ricocheted Sebastian Larsson cross.

The 23-year-old striker then doubled the lead three minutes after the restart as he slid home Stephen Carr's pass into the net.

Blackburn set up a nervy finish when Ryan Nelsen bundled home from close range after Pascal Chimbonda had turned a Morten Gamst Pedersen free-kick across the face of goal in the 69th minute, but it was not enough.
