Gazza arrested for drunken behaviour

Former England star Paul Gascoigne was nicked for being drunk and disorderly on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old was taken into custody in the early hours of the morning following a disturbance in the Jesmond area of Newcastle.

He was later allowed home after sobering up and agreeing to pay a fixed penalty notice which are set at £50 and £80 depending on the seriousness of the offence.

Gazza has struggled with drink and drugs since retiring in 2004, and has undergone treatment for bulimia and obsessive compulsive disorder

The star spent last Christmas in rehab after being sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
