Consistency is the quality that pushes players to elite status and Giggs epitomises it.

Giggs is now 36, he has played 821 games for United, starting 709 of them, and scoring 151 goals in an environment where the physical demands have grown enormously.

He has played in all 11 of United's Premier League title-winning teams and is the only player to have scored in the Champions League for 11 consecutive seasons.

"As a non-Arsenal player I would say Ryan Giggs is my Premier League player of the decade because he has combined style with winning," Wenger told Arsenal's website.

"Also I feel sorry he could never attend the World Cup, somewhere where people get a lot of compliments when they do well. But despite that if you look at his club record it is quite impressive."
