Roberto Mancini suffered his first defeat as Manchester City manager after a 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.
The Toffees made the breakthrough in the 36th minute when Steven Pienaar curled home an excellent free-kick beyond Shay Given at the goalkeeper's near post.
And Louis Saha scored Everton's second from the penalty spot nine minutes later after Micah Richards blatantly grabbed hold of the striker's shirt inside the box.
