Premier League: Fulham 0-2 Aston Villa

Sunday, January 31, 2010

Aston Villa moved up to sixth place in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over a toothless Fulham side at Craven Cottage.

Villa took the lead in the 40th minute when soon-to-be Manchester United center-back Chris Smalling was caught napping at a Stiliyan Petrov cross, and allowed Gabriel Agbonlahor to sneak in and nod home.

Agbonlahor doubled the lead just four minutes later with a superb effort - turning on a sixpence after being fed in by Carlos Cuéllar to bamboozle Brede Hangeland and curl the ball into the far post.
