Manchester United came from a goal down to beat AC Milan 3-2 in the Champions League - despite being second best for two thirds of the game.

Milan took the lead after just three minutes when Ronaldinho's shot deflected off Michael Carrick to wrong-foot goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

The hosts dominated much of the first half before Paul Scholes levelled in the 36th minute and United then took control after the interval.

Antonio Valencia came on for Nani midway through the second half and made an immediate impact, sending a pinpoint cross to to the far post where Wayne Rooney sent a looping header over Dida and inside the far post.

Rooney grabbed his second goal of the night with another header on 74 minutes before Clarence Seedorf pulled a goal back five minutes from time to give Milan a lifeline for the return leg next month.

United finished with ten men after Carrick was dismissed in added time after receiving a second yellow card for kicking the ball away.
