Arsenal moved to within two points of Manchester United at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Sunderland, who remain without a victory since the end of November.
Nicklas Bendtner put the Gunners ahead in the 27th minute with a simple tap-in from Emmanuel Eboué's cross.
Cesc FÃ bregas added a second late on from the spot after he had been felled by Frazier Campbell on the edge of the box.
