Relegation threatened Real Zaragoza boosted their survival hopes after a 3-0 thumping over third-placed Valencia at La Romareda.
Zaragoza took the lead through Carlos Diogo's thunderbolt on 41 minutes before Nikola Žigić was dismissed for a second bookable offence on the stroke of half-time.
Former Valencia striker Javier Arizmendi doubled the lead with a crisp volley in the 63rd minute before Jiří Jarošík completed the scoring in the 70th minute.
